Fondazione Barbanera 1762
Fondazione Barbanera 1762 was created upon the initiative of Feliciano Campi, the publisher of the Barbanera almanac and calendar. The idea was to enhance the foundation's long-standing history and great tradition of almanacs in Europe - which has found, in the almanac from Foligno, the most authoritative heir and successor - with research, exhibitions and editorials.
It manages the preservation of books and art collections and is a testament to the business activities of the Campi family in the publishing industry, documenting the endless forms of the almanac as a very popular literary genre and examining its cultural origins. Starting from the documents that certify the extensive entrepreneurial and cultural experience of the Campi family, from the second half of the 19th century to today, it contributes to the history of Italy's publishing industry in the 20th century.
It is based in Spello, Umbria.
In 2015, the Collection of Barbanera Almanacs 1762-1962, which is kept at the Fondazione Barbanera 1762, was included by UNESCO in its prestigious Register of the Memory of the world programme for the preservation, accessibility and promotion of the most significant documentary heritage of humanity, in other words the documentary and collective memory of the peoples of the world.
